Multi-branch inventory: transfers and stock counts without losses
Multi-branch inventory works when each branch has its own stock inside one system, every movement between branches is a transfer with send and receive steps, and you run small cycle counts instead of one big annual count.
Where stock usually goes missing
Transfers sent but never confirmed, items named differently per branch, unrecorded waste, and counting only once a year.
A working routine
- 1Unify item cards (name, barcode, unit) across branches.
- 2Make every transfer two steps: sent by one branch, confirmed by the other.
- 3Record waste and damage with a reason instead of editing quantities.
- 4Set a minimum level per item per branch for reorder alerts.
- 5Count high-value items weekly and cycle-count the rest monthly.
What the CFO watches
Stock value per branch, slow-moving items, count variances, and pending transfers not yet received.
